Bhandari Family's Oldest Lady Passed Away at 103.

Bishnu Bhandari aged 103 years went to heavenly abode on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She took her last breathe at Bhandari Niwas located at 5247 W Barbara Ave, Glendale, AZ 85302. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Bishnu had touched in some way throughout her memorable life.

 Born on August 1st 1911 (as per census 8/1/1914) in Lamidara, Bhutan, she was married to Late Sanman Bhandari when she was 7years old. She fostered self independence to her family and friends by being an example while taking care of the big farm all by herself. 

She moved to Nepal along with her son’s family (Prem Bhandari) on 05/13/1992. Although she lived in Nepal for almost 20 years, she always talked about her yester years and her motherland, Bhutan. Her journey continued to the great nation, The United States of America on 03/04/2010. Despite the age and the medical conditions, Mrs. Bhandari was always a special guest to most of the organized celebrations of the Bhutanese Community of Arizona. She was a living piece of history of our lives in Bhutan.

 During her final years, she loved to watch TV and talk with kids and make them laugh. If someone greeted her over phone saying “Hello” she would say “Kodalo” and many more. Although she was drained out because of age, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.

 She is survived by her Son Prem Bhandari (USA) and her 2 daughters Dil Maya Dhital and Hari Maya Sherpa, out of 5 sons and 3 daughters. She also has her adopted son Ganga Bhandari (USA). She has 27 grandkids, 38 great grandkids and 6 great great grandkids.
